  • Aidmore Auction/Fundraisers

It was another very successful year for Elks Aidmore during the Georgia Elks Association state convention held at the beginning of June. The annual Aidmore Auction netted $6,279 in proceeds for the various Elks Aidmore programs. The traditional “Cooler Raffle” by the Marietta Elks Aidmore Auxiliary broke their previous record by raising $975. The Auxiliary Horseshoe tournament, with nine teams participating, generated $401 in donations, in honor of Rick Corbett, Bruce Hayden and Roy Spiker. The Men’s Athletic Committee sponsored ring toss and bean bag toss games, with very competitive wagering, that raised $1,070. Richard Fradette (Camden County) started a “challenge” to donors to cut his hair. As it turned out, sponsors paid him to NOT cut his hair until the fall meeting of the Georgia Elks Association meeting in Albany in October. He collected $1,010 in support of Aidmore. In total, $10,590 was donated to Aidmore during the weekend convention.

Special thanks to Aidmore Auction Committee Chairman Stanley Santee (Camden County) and Silent Auction Coordinator Angela Spivey (Eatonton) for organizing the Aidmore Auction. A special “Shout-Out” to Dean Rosier (Albany) who served as this year’s auctioneer and did a yeoman’s job of calling the auction for almost two hours. Appreciation is also extended to those who worked the auction: Pat Craven (Union City), Mickie Emmett (Toccoa), Pat Harper (Atlanta-Northlake), Piker Penn (Calhoun), Steve Shirah (Savannah), Chris Somerindyke (Tifton), Pam Stewart (Calhoun) and Larry Westberry (Brunswick). And, of course, a heart-felt thanks to everyone who contributed to the fundraising events and continue to support Elks Aidmore on an on-going basis.
